I was told to update my blog. Apparently I'm boring some of my friends!
So here is the scoop for September.
Well, frankly, there's not much scoop.
We had about 14 or so straight days of rain, felt like 3 weeks! Drew just couldn't stay inside any longer. He was soaked, but had so much fun playing in the rain. It brought back some great memories of Brandi & I playing in the rain as kids.
First day of school pictures. Seriously late, I know. Here is the first day of school for Nathan, Allie and Evan. Drew started a few weeks later. I'm trying to find his pictures to post. They were taken with a different camera.
Nathan is in 4th grade this year. He is a great student and a hard worker. He recently started going to chess club once a week after school. He is also doing swim team this year. He swims twice a week and a meet once a month (or so). He loves it. I think he will be following in his father's triathlete shoes, only time will tell.
Allie is in 8th grade, so she's enjoying being the upper class in middle school. She still plays the saxophone in band, and is really excited to give marching band a try next year. She has great friends and a very active social life. She is still drawing, and coloring, and drawing and creating...
I can't believe Evan is in high school. He is absolutely loving it. He's doing a lot, but it's really good for him to stay busy. He is still playing trumpet in concert band. He is a member of JROTC, which is a blast for him. He plays football -defense, middle linebacker - on the freshman team. He started seminary this year, forcing a huge adjustment for mom - good morning 5 a.m.! He seems to like his classes, even though the workload is heavier than he's used to having!
We had a surprise party for Kathy Newsome's "#*th" birthday. By "we" I mean Gary thought of it, her friend Amy made all the plans, and I helped execute a small portion of it! It was so much fun to see her surprise, to know she felt loved. I took Nathan with me, here are a few pictures from the party.
The party was actually held on Nathan's birthday. Kathy, always willing to give the spotlight to others, had everyone sing Happy Birthday to Nathan. You can see the little grin on his face.

You can see the little lights in his pocket. After the party, he and Reed dug the lights out of the center pieces and put them to good use.

The party was at a beautiful home/party facility in Franklin. They had a lovely outdoor area where the party was held. Here are Nathan and I by the pond.
It's officially October, and I have a feeling it's going to be a great month!
